How to Plan for and Live Your Dreams

Introduction

In this cut-throat world of today, can we afford to live our dreams? The dream to fulfill something amazing, be a hero in someone’s eyes, or have a better or comfortable life than today. In 2019, a survey in South Korea described sources of happiness for different people. 36% chose a meaningful job or employment, while 38% chose to live a meaningful life. To achieve such different dreams, here’s our formula to help you out.

Steps to plan your dreams, and live them eventually:

“Far and away, the best prize that life offers, is the chance to work hard at work worth doing” Theodore Roosevelt

Get rid of preconceived notions. Empty your brain of any negative opinions of people.

You can find your potential by first taking responsibility for your well-being. As Emeril Lagasse said, “If you don’t follow your dream, who will?”

Be innovative and creative to achieve your goals, even if you have no support. Make a list of your goals with an imminent action list

Shake off your fears and any negative thoughts. Pursue your goals relentlessly, with continuous hard work, sharp focus, and firm belief in yourself.

“If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl, but by all means, keep moving” Martin Luther King Jr.

Find role models in real life to get inspiration from. Develop good communication skills.

Lighten yourself by getting rid of any anger, resentment, or any negative emotions, and transform them into something positive. Learn to forgive yourself to move on.

In the book “Live Your Dreams” by Les Brown, he discussed how to successfully attain your dreams. Here’s my takeaway from his book:

Never limit your horizons. Dream beyond what you think you are capable of. Never sell yourself short. Possess some basic goodness and responsibility. Practice self-awareness and self-approval to achieve self-contentment. Maintain healthy relationships. Practice mutual respect and help others. Plan and execute your goals with daily progress checks, and honor your commitments.

Before working on your goals, work on yourself. Know what pushes you ahead and what makes you lag. Know your obstacles, your strengths, and your weaknesses. Know your expectations from life.

How to set your goals:

Define them exactly. Don’t think vague ideas, but material realities.

Set them realistically. Don’t aim for the highest at first. Use a step by step approach.

They should excite you, motivate you, and kindle your inner passion. You can’t chase something that bores you.

Lock them in your mind and perceive them as a real thing every day. The strength of your belief is what keeps this going.

What should you do now?

  1. Set your goals with the daily actions list.
  2. Let go of any negativity.
  3. Forgive yourself.
  4. Be your cheerleader.
  5. Make a timeline for your goals, with the possible obstacles and their prospective solutions.

The path to fulfilling your dreams is a long and tough one. Be strong, determined, and relentless to chase your dreams. Everyone has 24 hours every day. You can either use them like Barack Obama or keep finding excuses to waste them
